Congresswoman Sheila J. Lee's remarks PDF Print E-mail

Congresswoman Sheila J. Lee delivered a powerful closing remark at the 7th Institute of Interfaith Dialog Dinner. She mentioned the importance of coming together to avoid violence at home and abroad.

As an inspiration for all, she quoted Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time. The need for men to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence, man must evolve for all human conflict, a method which rejects revenge, oppression and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.”

She also brought forward for consideration two leaders who spread similar messages throughout the history: Gandhi,  a man who captured the essence of nonviolence and Fethullah Gulen.  She said  “The Inspiration of the Gulen Institute , who understood the communicating the word of God, living for others, the spirit of devotion, sacrifice, fidelity and loyalty, was clearly the right path to take."

Congresswoman thanked to the Gulen Institute for the Congressional Friendship Dinner that took place in Washington, D.C.
